| Plum Flower® Brand Unsulfured Herbs Clean Inside and Out You will find that our Plum Flower® Brand herbs are exceptionally clean. Herbs that are first washed in industrial stainless steel rotating drum cleaners equipped with water jets. The water used is from our own underground well, which is naturally of drinking water quality. This initial wash helps remove dirt and dust, thereby lowering bacteria and heavy metal levels right from the beginning. Our herbs are also subject to a very careful grading and sorting system. We hand-sort most of our herbs to make sure there is no extraneous matter, soil, powder, pebbles or dust in the herbs you buy. We ship most of our herbs in vacuum packed double bags, further protecting them from damage, insects, dust, and dirt during the shipping process. We carefully monitor our Plum Flower® Brand herbs for impurities at our Mayway Anguo in-house lab where we test for microbial levels and sulfur residues. Outside labs test for DDT and Hexachlorabenzene, two non-permitted pesticides, as well as lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium heavy metal levels. |
| Plum Flower® Brand Unsulfured Herbs Why: Unsulfured Herbs As seasoned distributors of Chinese herbs we have seen the use of herbs grow worldwide. As demand has increased over time, the use of preservatives has increased to meet the storage and shipping needs of the expanding commercial market. Sulfur dioxide, and more recently chlorine and aluminum phosphate, have been used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms during processing, to brighten the color of herbs, to keep herbs from spoiling, and to increase storage and shelf life. Although these ends are good in themselves, we became weary of herbs tasting sour from the sulfur processing and concerned over the growing use of preservatives and their potentially harmful side effects. In response to these concerns and those of our health conscious customers, we have developed methods to provide herbs that are more natural and with longer storage and shelf life that are completely free of these harmful preservatives. |
