Introductory meditation classes are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist
meditation, teachings, and practice. The classes combine guided meditation with practical
spiritual advice that you can immediately apply as a method for solving the stress and
problems in your life. In these classes, you will learn how to meditate, how to establish a daily
practice, how to concentrate, and how to overcome distractions. You will also learn different
meditation techniques that help you overcome negative states of mind, such as anger and
selfishness, and cultivate positive states of mind, such as patience and love.

The guided meditations are the foundation for developing a powerful meditation practice. A
regular meditation practice has many benefits:

  • Helps overcome stress
  • Reduces anxiety and worry
  • Brings inner calm and a feeling of well-being
  • Gives clarity to solve our problems
  • Helps us deal with difficult people and situations

What to expect in a class

Introductory classes begin with a simple guided meditation exercise to reduce stress, tension,
and distractions.

This short meditation is followed by a short talk on how to apply Buddhist principles into daily
life. This may include topics such as improving relationships, gaining peace of mind, learning
to love, and dealing with anger.

The class then breaks for a short informal discussion, followed by a question and answer
session.

Finally, there is a second short guided meditation designed to help us gain deeper
experience of the subject of the class.

After the class

After the class there is a chance to enjoy refreshments and the company of the other
participants.
