Traditional Chinese Medicine or in short, TCM has many components.
The most popular and well known being Acupuncture. TCM is thousands of years old
and has a long written history that spans many centuries. The use of TCM helped to
prevent the development of surgery in China as it very often fixed problems that are
treated very quickly with surgery in Western Medicine.
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. . Chinese method of treating
disorders by inserting thin needles into the skin, at specific points on the body,
manipulated by the hands or by electrical stimulation, to control pain and other
symptoms, by producing loss of sensation in another area. This is to help with the
flow of energy that is thought to be blocked, to restore the body's life energy and
balance (called Chi).
Acupressure is a non-invasive form of Acupuncture.
The physician uses pressure or localized massage to specific sites on the body to
control symptoms such as pain, stress, or nausea. The Practitioner uses hands or
massage tools of various shapes to press acupuncture points or rub along the
body's Meridians.
Acupressure is extremely effective in Pediatrics for infants and children and can be
used by the Practitioner and followed up with the parent at home for maximum
benefits. Most childhood diseases as well as developmental issues are greatly
benefited by Acupressure and Meridian massage. For example: Autism, ADD, Slow
development etc.
While Acupressure is used with adults successfully, it is not always as effective as
Acupuncture.
Laser or painless acu-techniques are also non invasive choices with great effects.
