Q: What should I expect from my first massage therapy session?
A: First, you need to fill out a medical history questionnaire which will allow the massage therapist to
build a customize massage, according to your current condition. Afterwards, the therapist will ask
you questions to understand what areas you would like worked on and to determine what type of
massage is the most appropriate for you. Your massage therapist may combine different modalities
to maximize the therapy effectiveness.
If you're expecting something in particular from the massage, make sure to tell the therapist. For
example, if you prefer a lighter or deeper massage, make that preference known.
Q: When should I get a massage?
A: Massage is good for almost everyone, any time, since it is being customised to your medical and
personal needs. You don't need to wait until you are not feeling good. Massage therapy has many
benefits and a lot of our clients like to treat themselves or someone they care, with a good and
relaxing massage. Massage is a wonderful way to cope with stress, both physical and emotional,
and we all need to stop for a moment and take care of our body so we'll be able to prevent or deal
with current and future conditions (minor injury, sore muscles, pains and more).
It is very important that you inform the therapist of any health problems or medications you are
taking, since there are several medical conditions that would make massage inappropriate (for
example: Fracture, bleeding, burns, etc.).
Q: Can I choose the gender of the massage therapist?
A: Yes. At A Therapy Above we have male and female therapists, so you can choose which ever
makes you feel most comfortable and relaxed. Some people are more comfortable receiving a
massage from a person of the same gender, other prefer a person of the opposite gender.
Q: Do I have to be undressed?
A: There are different types of massages and for some we suggest to be undressed under a drape,
but you should leave on whatever clothes are necessary for you to be relaxed during the massage.
If removing all your clothes makes you uncomfortable and not relaxed, then you won't be able to
obtain the optimal benefits from the massage.

quiet room, where you will lie on a professional massage table and listen to soft music for optimal
relaxation.

A massage due to a medical condition - The therapist will consult you how often you should come for
treatment. If it's chronic and interfering with your daily life, weekly sessions may be necessary for a
while to build on each session's improvement in your relief and healing.
A massage as preventive care - If it's for managing the daily stress in your life, once a month is
about the norm. Time between massages during stressful periods might be shorter.
A massage for fun - Some of our costumers come more often just because they enjoy it that much.
They come alone, with a friend or with their significant other and have a massage just for fun,
